This session was for decision making about the album in terms of music, artwork and title. Jonny gave everyone a CD with 19 tracks for them to take away, listen to and confirm that their contribution should be included on the album. The following images were selected - one from each person taking part. Jonny will digitally collage these into an album cover.
We were joined again by Jonny Russell who has been working with us over a year in recording and editing our music and sound recordings. Before we started one of the group managed to repair a ukulele by whittling a tuning peg from a piece of found wood. We pitched up by the Paul Nash sculpture in the morning under the shade of the trees to record various songs and sounds. After our picnic lunch we went into the James Turrell skyspace to experiment with some more sounds, whilst there were no other people around. We also took turns listening with headphones to ambient woodland sounds amplified through a zoom recorder. It was a very rewarding day.
It was an exceptionally hot and windy day and there was debris from the gales all over the paths. To celebrate midsummer and National Week of the Tree one of our group decided to perform with dancing and greetings for everyone we met. We were also celebrating the birthday of our chef who joined us for the day (sorry no photos of this)... and we made some drawings and paintings.
Yesterday was the end of our two-week residency at Redwing Gallery, Penzance. Next week we'll be back at the Breadline building,
