In April 2007 I began a blog followed by a website that documented my PhD research practice. A new blog has become necessary to describe the process of setting up 'Roaming', a not-for-profit arts company through which I will explore, in collaboration with a number of people in different settings, an art practice that can deliberately exist beyond the nucleus of the mainstream art world. We are exploring the possibility that by dissenting from competitive approaches to arts practice we can discover peaceful means to interaction. Our focus is therefore on our working process more than our output.
Roaming and Returning
We're gradually returning to old patterns of meeting, chatting, making things in the wake of Covid. We're glad to be back at Breadline. Even when we couldn't meet, Roamers stayed in touch by telephone, postal projects (details here) and this website. But we're most ourselves and most at ease -- most Roaming -- when we're really together.

Roaming's official goal is "to carry on creative activities that benefit the community and in particular (without limitation) people who find themselves in some way disadvantaged, excluded or vulnerable." Our values are really our common ground: confidentiality, integrity, fairness, respect for the values and culture of others, the withholding of judgement, inclusivity, flexibility, and equity in relationships.
