Today we weeded and watered as well as harvesting food for lunch... boiled potatoes and French beans and salad leaves adorned with edible flowers.
We also harvested kohl rabi, cabbage, courgettes, squash and shallots for lunch at Roaming Penzance tomorrow and glorious flowers, which we all took home with us.
We've had an exciting day with visiting artist Jonny Russell. Jonny is a musician and music technician and he spent the day recording individual people's musical and poetic contributions and mixing them electronically into a composition. By popular request Jonny is returning in a fortnight to continue with these experiments.
'Jerry', the inanimate new arrival pictured here turned up on a bicycle trailer and is in fact a modified guitar case!
Lucy and Laura began the day with an early visit to the allotment to gather salad and veg for lunch and flowers for people to take home. The strange yellow courgette was on the allotment donation table and the couple who had grown it were there when we picked it up and pleased to know it was going to be part of our Roaming meal.
Janet McEwan was our visiting artist today and came to work on a film with one of the Roamers. We also had another visitor, a student from America, who Laura met on Sunday and invited along. He arrived at lunchtime, hot and hungry, having walked from Porthcurno. It was great to have him with us.
Over lunch Lucy talked to us about some humanitarian work she is about to undertake, which led to a fascinating debate.
Now that lockdown is at last gradually lifting, we're looking back on the past year with a sense of achievement and a committment to a future together. Even when we couldn't meet, Roamers stayed in touch by way of our post card project (details here) -- we've posted most the them here. We shared paintings and drawings and photographs from Toby, Suzi, Jon and Not Just Any Girl. Keep an eye out for a new video soon with more details.

Roaming's official goal is "to carry on creative activities that benefit the community and in particular (without limitation) people who find themselves in some way disadvantaged, excluded or vulnerable." Our values are really our common ground: confidentiality, integrity, fairness, respect for the values and culture of others, the withholding of judgement, inclusivity, flexibility, and equity in relationships.
